HealthWorks, Holistic Health Care Ltd. was founded in 1993 and the objects for which the association is established are:

To relieve sickness and distress by all medical means including alternative and complementary medicine, acupuncture, massage, hydrotherapy, homoeopathy, hypnosis, osteopathy, counselling, psychotherapy, physiotherapy and spiritual healing.

To provide self-help programmes and advice to enable the individual to avoid illness, maintain good health and live in a healthy environment.

To advance the education of the general public and the medical profession in all areas of medicine and holistic health.

To carry out research into all subjects pertaining to objects herein and to disseminate the useful results of such research.

HealthWorks has set up the charitable Access to health Fund where the surplus generated by the company’s activity is collected. The fund is then providing for the following charitable deeds:

Annual Health & Lifestyle Fair at Forres town hall each March

Access to books, information and research publications on major health issues

Financial assistance with cost of treatments at HealthWorks for individuals experiencing financial hardship

Access for Forres NHS and Academy staff to free treatments to educate on alternative medicine

Financial assistance to other groups, such as “Doctors and healers working together” at Leanchoil Hospital.

The Elders Fund
This community initiative collects funds dedicated to support elders in the community. Its purpose is to supplement any support available from statutory sources (rather than to replace those).

In the past it has allowed us:

To facilitate 24 hour nursing care at home, i.e. to cover the amounts that were not paid for by care allowances.

To pay up front for funeral arrangements. This saved the executor and close friend of the deceased the stress to have to deal with all of the financial aspects when grief and mourning were the immediate needs.

To buy a specialist bed for one of our elders that would allow him to remain independent longer and to facilitate care at home when his condition deteriorates temporarily.

To buy a scooter for a disabled elder to allow her to get around.

To buy a mobility help device for an ill person to assist with daily care.

To support the Community Help Line – a neighbourhood help initiative which is a source of reassurance for our elders.

All of the company¡¦s banking is done with banks that are describing to ethical principles.

At present HealthWorks offers 15 different therapies and according to an audit conducted in 2004 between 75 to 100 treatment sessions are given each week. About 33% of HealthWorks¡¦ clients are coming from Forres, 10 % from Elgin, 8.5% from Findhorn, 7% from Nairn, 6% from Kinloss and 35% from elsewhere in Moray.

For donations and more information please contact Wilf Schenk, Company Secretary, at 5 Bank Lane, Forres IV36 1NU, Tel 01309 676691
