Notes for Sharings

6. trouble with emotionsSharings are primarily for exploring your emotions and expressing that world of your feelings. Best to keep that as your aim rather than talk about where you have been or what you have done, or give the factual news about your life. “I” statements help bring the focus back to the self and the emotional world. It helps many people to start to share without any interaction but it can also help to have interaction and comments from the group.

A suggestion would be to set aside equal time for everybody and let the individual decide how they want their sharing to be – with silent listeners or with some interactive time.

A very good use of interactive sharing within SPLASH is to use it to set goals in your life or to focus more attention on challenges. You can share these then invite in comments or suggestions knowing full well that these may not be appropriate or right for you –  use or ignore them as you choose. Suggestion givers could also bear this in mind and freely suggest things that may or may not work for the person who is sharing, and then let go of any attachment that the recipient will use their ideas.
